Faith Family Medical Center
Garden Harvest

March is National Nutrition Month

As part of Faith Family’s team of professionals committed to helping patients find their paths to wellness, Beth Allen, a Registered Dietician, provides an array of services. From teaching patients how to grow fresh herbs and vegetables in Faith Family’s community garden, to preparing healthy food and providing a variety of exercise classes, Beth is instrumental in helping patients develop healthy lifestyles.

This month, she will be emphasizing the 2016 theme of  National Nutrition Month, “Savor the Flavor of Eating Right.”  Beth will provide sample herb packets and recipes for patients to pick up in the clinic lobby and take home to try. “Food can taste so good when using herbs to flavor it instead of fat and salt!”

Enjoy a Healthy Snack!

Here is an easy and healthy snack that Beth has prepared for staff and volunteers on Faith Family Chronic Disease Days:

  • 1 regular bag of low-fat popcorn
  • 1/2 cup lightly salted mixed nuts
  • 1/4 cup craisins or raisins

Mix and enjoy!  This a great snack that contains both protein and carbohydrates.
