2023 Birthday Breakfast
Wednesday, October 4, 2023
We welcomed close to 400 friends of Faith Family to our 15th annual
Birthday Breakfast on Wednesday, October 4. The sold-out signature event raised
critical funds to care for Middle Tennessee’s hardworking neighbors.

“This year’s Birthday Breakfast is an ongoing testament to the dedication and
kindness of the Faith Family community and is supporters,” said Phil
Ellenburg, J.D., Faith Family President and CEO. “Every dollar raised will
enable us to expand our services, reach more individuals and provide the care,
education and resources to our neighbors who need it most. Thank you to
everyone who contributed to the success of this event. Your generous support
allows Faith Family Medical Center to continue serving Middle Tennesseans with
inclusive, compassionate and outstanding medical care.”
The event was held at Nissan Stadium’s Wesley Mortgage Club and gathered nearly 400
Faith Family supporters, ranging from donors, board members and sponsors to
first time volunteers, patients and employees. The program featured longtime
Nashvillian, local sports favorite and former WSMV news anchor, Rudy Kalis, who
called on attendees to use their gifts to support the less fortunate. Kalis,
whose parents came to the U.S. as refugees, focused on the need for services
that support immigrants, refugees and others in need, including incarcerated
individuals.
“With immense gratitude, we want to extend our heartfelt thanks to every supporter,
sponsor and volunteer who contributed to the resounding success of this year’s
Birthday Breakfast,” said event chairs, Anna and Jameson Norton, who also serve
on the Faith Family Board of Directors. “The compassion and generosity of the
Nashville community was on full display Wednesday morning, and we look forward
to the profound impact our collective efforts will have on creating a
healthier, equitable Nashville.”
A highlight of the event was a discussion between Dr. Parker Panovec, Faith
Family Chief Medical Officer, and, Althea, a Faith Family patient. Althea
shared her medical journey and how Faith Family continues to help her overcome
long-standing health complications related to pre-diabetes, which the Faith
Family care team has successfully helped her treat with a focus on health and
wellness instead of medication. Reggie Ramsey, Faith Family Board Chair,
and Anne Hancock Toomey, Faith Family Vice Board Vice Chair, presented the
Noble Neighbor Award – Faith Family’s highest honor recognizing an individual
or organization who demonstrates exemplary and inspiring service to Faith
Family’s patients within and beyond clinic walls – to Lipscomb University’s
College of Pharmacy as Community Partner of the Year, as well as the late Dr.
Tom M. Gorman who served Faith Family patients as a volunteer physician and
found great purpose and enjoyment in caring for others in need.

2022 Birthday Breakfast
Event Chairs: Neill and Elliott Kyle
For the first time in the event’s 14-year history, we hosted our Birthday Breakfast at a stunning new venue – the West Club at Nissan Stadium. It was great to be back in person with 400 of our closest supporters.
FFMC presented its inaugural Noble Neighbor Award to HCA TriStar Centennial Medical Center Laboratory as Community Partner of the Year! This award is the highest honor given to an individual or organization who has demonstrated exemplary and inspiring service to Faith Family’s patients in ways that provide significant and lasting impact beyond our clinic walls.
Our keynote speaker Senator Bill Frist, M.D. captured the crowd as he discussed how even though Nashville is the “Silicon Valley of Health Services,” we rank far behind peer cities in community health. He specifically highlighted Faith Family’s sole purpose is addressing these health disparities that lie behind the overall poor population health and how we must partner together to make an impact in the health equity challenge. Frist also shared a touching story of his Aunt Bonnie, Principal of Hattie Cotton Elementary School during the 1957 bombing that occurred days after mandated integration. He compared her leadership in times of uncertainty and equity challenges, to call on others to lead the way in difficult times we face now in healthcare.
Afterwards, the audience loved watching our patient talk between Dr. Panovec and “Big Steve” as we learned about Steve’s past and how Faith Family had an impact on his journey to sobriety, owning his own barber shop, and helping others through Narcotics Anonymous. Steven spoke on how Faith Family treated him with dignity and respect even when he felt undeserving. He pays it forward to doing the same for others.
Thanks to the support of our generous sponsors listed below, every dollar raised goes directly to helping our hardworking neighbors in need.
